Educational activities

OTB Research Institute for the Built Environment contributes to teaching at Delft University of Technology in various ways as part of one of its core activities (knowledge transfer). It is responsible for courses in various degree programmes at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level, as indicated below.

  • OTB provides the courses on Built Environment & Spatial Development in the System Engineering and Policy Analysis and Management programme in the Faculty of Technology, Policy & Management at both BSc and MSc level.
  • OTB provides the Delft contribution to the interuniversity Master’s degree programme for Geo-Information Management and Applications (a joint venture of Delft together with the Universities of Utrecht and Wageningen and the ITC International Institute for Geo-Information Science & Earth Observation in Enschede).
  • OTB offers the MSc Geomatics at Delft University of Technology. This master, hosted by the Faculty of Architecture, focusses on the application of remote sensing and information management techniques to gain knowledge and understanding about the built environment i.e. our cities and their surroundings.

In addition, staff members of OTB Research Institute for the Built Environment regularly make contributions to various other Bachelor’s and Master’s courses at Delft University on the basis of their specific expertise, especially in the faculties of Architecture, Technology, Policy & Management and Civil Engineering & Geosciences. These teaching activities are closely allied to the research carried out at OTB. Regularly, members of OTB staff are asked to give lectures at Universities and academic institutes in the Netherlands and abroad.
