Sjoerd Bakker is a post-doc researcher at OTB and is primarily involved in the NWO funded project on the feasibility and impact of the transition to electric mobility in the Randstad.

Sjoerd completed his PhD as a member of the Innovation Studies group at Utrecht University. In his thesis ‘Competing Expectations – The case of the hydrogen car’ he investigated the role of technological expectations in the competition between emerging technologies.

Before starting his PhD project, Sjoerd worked as researcher at the European Centre for Digital Communication (EC/DC) in Heerlen. At EC/DC he studied the possibilities for exploitation of ICT’s for regional development and the applicability of User Centered Design methods in SME’s. In addition he worked as a consultant on the development of a regional videoconferencing network for cancer specialists.

Sjoerd Bakker holds an MA degree in Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society and a BSc in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Twente.
